Frequently Asked Questions
Can Alta cellular shades be restrung?
Yes. The most common Alta repair is restringing internal lift cords. We do this on-site for standard cellular and double-cell honeycomb shades, including top-down/bottom-up configurations.
Is it worth repairing an Alta shade or should I replace it?
If the fabric and cells are intact and the shade is under ~10 years old, a restring or cord-lock replacement is almost always cheaper than buying new. If the fabric is sun-damaged or cells are crushed, replacement makes more sense — we'll tell you straight.
My Alta cordless shade won't stay up. What's wrong?
Cordless cellular shades use a spring inside the bottom rail to hold position. After heavy use that spring loses tension. We can recalibrate or replace the tension assembly without buying a new shade.
Do you stock Alta parts?
We carry generic cord, cord locks, and tensioners that fit Alta headrails. Brand-specific clutches or motors we source directly — typically 3–7 business days.
How much does Alta cellular shade repair cost in NYC?
Most single-shade restrings fall in a predictable range. We provide a flat per-shade quote before we start. High-rise or scaffold-access jobs are quoted on-site.
