Frequently Asked Questions

My motorized pergola stopped responding to the Somfy remote — what's wrong?

Usually one of four things: a tripped GFCI or dead 24V DC power supply, a loose connection at the control board's green terminal blocks, a Somfy RTS remote that lost its pairing after a battery change or power outage, or — less commonly — a failed motor or limit switch. We diagnose all four in order on-site so we're not just papering over a deeper failure.

Can you re-pair Somfy remotes to my pergola without replacing anything?

In most cases yes. If the receiver and control board are healthy and the motor still runs, we can clear the existing pairings and re-pair your Somfy RTS handsets to the correct channels in a single service visit. We also re-set the 'my' preset position to your preferred louver angle before we leave.

Do you service outdoor louvered pergolas other than Somfy systems?

Yes. We repair Somfy RTS and io-homecontrol systems, StruXure-style louvered pergolas, Renson, and most aluminum bioclimatic pergolas using standard 24V DC control architecture. We also service motorized awnings, exterior solar screens, and roll-down shades from the major manufacturers.

Can weather, moisture, or debris really kill a pergola control board?

Yes — this is one of the most common failures we see. Outdoor enclosures depend on intact gaskets and clean terminal connections. Once moisture gets in or a connector loosens from seasonal thermal cycling, you can get intermittent operation, blown fuses, or a board that simply stops responding. We inspect and re-seal the enclosure as part of every outdoor service call.

Do you serve Roslyn and the rest of Long Island for pergola repair?

Yes. We're based in the NYC metro area and regularly service Roslyn, Manhasset, Port Washington, Great Neck, Garden City, the rest of Nassau and Suffolk, all five NYC boroughs, and Westchester County for motorized pergola, awning, and exterior shade repair.

How long does a pergola diagnostic and repair visit take?

Most single-pergola service calls take 60–120 minutes from arrival to walkthrough — diagnostic, control-board inspection, remote re-pairing, limit and preset reset, and a full operational test under the homeowner's eye. Repairs that require ordered parts are completed on a follow-up visit.
